Should You Start Mowing Yet in Stillwater?

Identify the grass first

Check growth and ground conditions

A planned spring height reduction on an established Bermuda lawn is different from ordinary mowing. It is not appropriate for every lawn, and tall fescue should not be scalped. Lawn condition, cultivar, equipment, and late-freeze risk matter more than a blanket calendar rule.

Ask for an assessment if you are considering a major height reduction rather than experimenting on weak or newly established turf.

Decide what happens to clippings

Routine light clippings can normally remain on the lawn. Heavy clumps or debris may need collection. There is no rule that every first mowing must be bagged.

Set the schedule around growth

Weekly visits may suit active growth, while slow-growing or dormant areas may need fewer cuts. Twice-monthly service is different from every-other-week service; confirm the intended interval and included work in your estimate.
